Mrs Shullivan and I were impressed with the pilot episode. So far I will requite the serial a positive 9 out of 10 rating for the stellar cast, and the excellent directing and cinematography of the series pilot.

SHADES of Bluish: 2nd Review 2017
Sunday, 14 May 2017: I initially reviewed this show after watching the first few episodes and I realized what a great show it is. This is a great dirty cop drama that keeps getting better with each episode. Beautiful, sexy and talented Jennifer Lopez, but the Emmy and SAG awards goes to the brilliant actor, Ray Liotta. He is the powerhouse role player on the show. I like that Ray's grapheme Woz does non blink an center when he has to kill somebody who is more dirtier than he is.
I certain hope Ray gets an Emmy for best male actor in a drama series and the bear witness itself win an Emmy. Watching Jenny Lopez, she is just a naturally sexy and beautiful Latina to watch.
The remainder of the cast of actors/actresses make full out the show very well. I hope this show has a long successful run on television for many years. I hope they bustle up and get rid of mobster Bianchi and his coiffure.

Lopez displays real acting power
I wasn't sure well-nigh this show when it showtime came out. I gave it a adventure because it had Ray Liotta, albeit the plastic faced version, co-starring. Lopez steals the bear witness. She is excellent in her role.

The execution can be sketchy and platitude, just its core characters and cast seem to hold upward decently.
Jennifer Lopez is really donning the moniker "Jenny from the Block". Her acting works have gained mixed reception and Shades of Blue will continue that tradition. The leading actors give a presentable performance and the drama appears to be in working shape, still some of the police force works are following frigid formula of crime drama, not to mention a couple of angles are shady and unconvincing.
Female leads in cop serial admittedly expect like models, for example leads of Castle or Quantico, which is non entirely a bad and might even be appealing, just it doesn't raise the reliability aspect of the series. What Jennifer brings is the occasional moments where her character is approachable. At these times she can shed the celebrity persona and delves into the graphic symbol, although there's withal inconsistency in this regard.
Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) is a single female parent and corrupt cop who is likewise beingness chased by FBI. nothing new, save the J.Lo postage
I of the people reviewing on the lath idea this was an original idea. She never saw The Shield, I estimate.
Similar Shades of Blue, The Shield was nigh a grouping of crooked cops, led by Michael Chiklis. Here, it's Ray Liotta as Matt Wozniak, working with a group fabricated up of Harlee (J. Lo), Tess (Drea DeMatteo), Michael (Dayo Okenyi), Marcus (Hampton Fluker) and others.
Harlee is a single female parent with a daughter (Cristina Santos). She is having some financial issues. She is approached by the FBI in the person of Robert Stahl (Warren Kole). She can cooperate and aid them get Wozniak or she can go to prison given what they have on her. She reluctantly cooperates, but Wozniak is so paranoid and nervous, she has to be extra-careful. Plus she is torn because of her loyalty to Wozniak.
This isn't a bad prove. I remember people are hard on Jennifer Lopez and here'southward why: She'south a loftier-profile celebrity who has a lot written near her personal life, she shows up to awards shows in some flimsy fashions, and she's a vocalizer and dancer. A Proficient Start For "Shades of Blue"
Jennifer Lopez plays Harlee Santos, a police adult female who cares about justice, her teenage daughter, and the officers on her team. She describes them every bit a "family unit". Update 1/twenty/xv: Subsequently two episodes, I am raising my grade to "8". As I take always known, Jennifer Lopez is the most under-rated actress on TV or film. Episode 2 included plenty of drama. If the writing can keep with this level of quality, college grades will follow.
Update 4/ii/16: Later watching the concluding episode of the season, all I tin can say is wow! I am upping my grade to "10".

tries to exist The Shield, fails.

it's hard to say what'south worse, the casting of Jenny Lopez in the lead or the terrible script. jenny? seriously? This show desperately wants to be The Shield, but instead of developing characters and a story over a season, Jenny and Ray break world records for most crimes committed by Boob tube constabulary officers in a single episode.
Lets recap the beginning episode: 1. 3 minutes in Jenny fakes a crime scene to brand a bad shoot await good (her partner thinks an xbox controller looks like a gun and and then shoots someone dead. sure why not. sounds plausible)
2. After ix minutes in Jenny and her cop buddies share cash they have shaken down/stolen from other bad guys (just in example you didn't realise this is a evidence about corrupt cops at the 3 minute mark)
3. After xx minutes in Ray makes deal with drug dealer, and then beats him up. Vic Mackey policing chapter 1.
iv. After 22 minutes Jenny tries to shakedown a bookie for cash. Oops, besides bad he'south under embrace FBI. busted. worst decadent cop ever. Couldn't even last 23 minutes.
5. Afterwards 30 minutes in Ray and Jenny run down a doubtable with their car. He gets up and starts running....but 48 yr old Jenny manages to run faster in heels and tackles him for the abort. Girl Power!
6. After 33 minutes Jenny deliberately crashes her motorcar - to cover upwards a lie she told earlier nigh the car being in a crash. Unfortunately she survives.
seven. After 34 minutes, Ray drinks and drives on the chore. Because existence a corrupt cop isn't plenty of a cliche. he has to be an alcoholic too.

Unexpected great show!
I stumbled upon the show on Amazon Prime by venturing through some series and wondered I've never heard of it before. Ray Lotta starring is always a no-brainer only gets bully accompany past Jennifer Lopez who most steals the evidence juggling between her task and her role as a female parent of a teenager. 36 episodes full of police force work, abuse and teamwork, always dancing on the barb's wire between justice, punishment and morality - focusing on Brooklyn, NY.
A great serial which shows the dilemma on the street, making the proof that at that place is just no black or white when comes to make your decisions. Ray Liotta and especially Jennifer Lopez are - of course - in the focus and likewise accompanied by a great-acting Drea de Matteo.

i know people tend to down charge per unit this bear witness considering J.Lo's in information technology. which is pathetic that you would not even give a TV testify the recognition it deserves because y'all have then much hate towards a celebrity. Lets cut the bull, J.Lo is perfection in this show. she's a wonderful actress, and she plays her graphic symbol well.
Now the reason i'thou rating it 10 is non considering I'm a J.Lo stan. It's because the storyline is so fantastic and doesn't drag on. From episode i the story started off and equally each episode went on information technology got darker and deeper then i could accept imagined. the pacing is great because it gets straight to the indicate and e'er has dandy cliff hangers that lead you wanting more.
I don't want to give any spoilers abroad, but it's actually heating up and i'm actually excited for tonights episode. oo yea

Pass on this One - Unless you are a Jennifer Lopez Fan
At that place will be no middle ground on this one. Fans of Jennifer Lopez will call back information technology is the best program on television. The rest of us wonder what all the hype is about.
I admit it, I have never been a fan of Ms. Lopez. I respect her musical talent. I respect her ability to remain in the public eye for decades. I still wonder why she insists on being an "Actress".
Lopez is especially "Lopez-ish" in this serial. She never ever lets you forget that she is "Acting". Every hammy nostril flare, every deliberate movement of the head. Every unnaturally paused line she reads.... she never lets the audition forget she is "acting".
There is a reason "personalities" never quite succeed at interim - they are non able to ever totally lose themselves in the grapheme.
I tried, simply I just could non get into this programme.

Merely like reality where solutions to existent life situations aren't black or white but fall somewhere as a shade of greyness, so these cops must deal with the situations falling betwixt strictly by the book and the right ethical affair to practice. No one's perfect and so these cops deal.
"Shades of Blue" is a constabulary drama featuring a vice team. The story line is presented from a different point of view and I detect that very refreshing. The weekly crimes they investigate are more of the subplot while their everyday hassles are the chief story. Ray, I doubt you lot will always come across this but I must give credit where credit is due. I've seen many of your roles over the years and tin't name a single one. Never seen yous in a memorable function. My wife and I just finished rampage watching first 5 episodes of "Shades of Blueish".
FREAKING Crawly ! You absolutely nail the part of Matt Woz! My wife and I love it. Promise the show is around for a long fourth dimension. Good Chore dude.

Bring Shades of Blue back
I figured eventually J Lo would have to leave the evidence just figured with the other talented actors on the show that were selected....you would've found her replacement. Disappointed to find out that this is the concluding flavour. There is a strong female person lead and the story lines are not bad. The show has been ane of the few I'd looked forrad to returning. Shame that you got concerned the testify wouldn't stand if and when Jlo left Oh, of trivial faith in your casting abilities and in non thinking the viewers would continue watching with the great writers y'all had backside the testify. Jennifer Lopez plays a complicated NYPD cop - kleptomaniacal for financial reasons (with kind of a justification) but non so bad that sympathies aren't with her. She shows her tough side, has a toy male child, faces loyalty tests, is defenseless between a rock and a hard identify to betray or non to betray, the list goes on. This is no Law and Order or CSI - it's more than character based than the crimes themselves.
A good and convincing supporting cast that looks authentic ensures this is not a diva show case. Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo are as authentic NYPD looking every bit you can become.
It'south only thirteen episodes a season so things will be succinct. Requite it a chance you won't regret it.

As Convincing As A Giraffe Reciting Shakespeare

*** SPOILER ALERT *** What were the writers, producers, and anyone else connected with this bottomless (and I'm using a mild adjective) thinking - or non thinking? Not one character yous could even vaguely intendance about, a plot so sparse yous'd exist called naked if you lot wore information technology and a script that would shame an elementary school play. TV shows that show cracking hope such every bit 'Forever' and 'Almost Human' are taken off later on ane season and trash like this is aired? Unbelievable: and the same word serves every bit an excellent description of this unabridged travesty of a Television receiver bear witness. On the Edge of Your Seat Tension...In an Amazing Way!
The summary pretty much says everything nearly this great show. And I take never been a large cop drama fan so I was debating whether to invest the fourth dimension. I am so glad that I did! Oh, and for all of you lot haters out there, Jennifer Lopez is the real bargain! So get over yourselves! The chemical science between her and Liota is A+. They do mixed emotions with a dash of malaise Really WELL! I would like to run into the Seer(s) who put this cast together. Great ensemble! This story is then intricate that your head volition be spinning with joy. End of Episode xiii...WTF?! :) Tin't wait until January for season two! I pray Liota is notwithstanding part of the bandage and that the writers go along the tension going which is what makes this evidence worth watching.

Horribly cliché

I was super excited to run into j lo and Ray Liotta cast in a prime time prove, so I tuned in with high expectations. Oh boy was I incorrect. What a snooze fest. What a horribly predictable snooze fest. I was able to to foretell pretty much everything in this thin donkey show before it happened. J lo is not convincing at all as a cop. Far less a seasoned corrupt cop. Ray Liotta fared better but effort as me might he did not exude bad cop.
The cast was a picayune off too. The adult female cast to play j lo's daughter looked like something Frankenstein stitched together. I couldn't chronicle to and of the cast and sure as heck was not rooting for anyone.
I actually encourage everyone to watch this mess of a show then they can meet how horrible it is. I don't see this bear witness lasting for more than 6 episodes.

Information technology Was Adept , But Could Accept Been Perfect

This serial was and however 1 of all my fourth dimension favorite TV show of all fourth dimension and that's for many reasons:
1- Ray Liotta ( which is the starting time reason just to lookout man the show) no other role player could be able to perform this complicated character as he did and unfortunately with all the seasons he didn't get a one unmarried nomination ( which is one of the most underrated operation on the small screen )
2- Jennifer Lopez performance here is exceptional and then powerful and without a doubt her best functioning for many years since Selena 1997 .
3- The story line which focusing ane the bad cops and explaining the circumstances that led them to choose their bad choices in life .
The kickoff Season was brilliant from A to Z , and when i heard that they started shooting the second one i was kind of skeptical considering i thought that the story and the events were all closed , but i was wrong because the second was really almost as the same level equally the first one even the ending was so cool and kept u.s. all wonder what will happen to the pb characters .
However the third flavor was kind of a permit downwardly ( non just for me, only for a lot of fan ) the writers really rushed for this ane.
The biggest trouble in the third flavour was they just focused on JLO character fifty-fifty Liotta grapheme didn't become that kind of attention from the writers ( although he was the lead male grapheme of the show).
There were some of keen scenes like when Jlo discovers her fellow torso, the final scene between her and Warren Kole , but that wasn't enough to save the show or at least to give united states a satisfying catastrophe because the final episode was the weakest one, over again the just focused on JLO cede without giving any attention to her other friends and partners who all had many problem in the testify.
Again the final season wasn't bad, but it wasn't that perfect , but however better than a lot of TV shows which ruined with their terminal flavor or episode ( I'thousand talking of class nigh Dexter, Lost and Scandal )

Oh honey!
Earlier typing this, I took a look at the reviews, to come across if my comments are justifiable, it's quite articulate from them that it is in deed!
Firstly, I am 7 episodes into this show, if you are at episode one or perhaps even 2, then yous won't agree with the review and will remember information technology's a welcome change and different take on the usual cop drama...That'southward OK, stick with information technology, so blazon a review after a few more than!
I couldn't care less for Jennifer Lopez, I don't consider her a good player, in fact in my opinion she should stick to singing. Information technology is quite clear from the outset she has been added to the evidence every bit the female draw for male viewers, she does niggling else to dissuade you from that given she is at it from early on, and I cannot retrieve anything I accept watched and enjoyed that she has been in! Ray Liotta yet is one of the best actors to grace our screens, however as per other ageing actors, in recent years they seem to compromise quality for quantity, information technology is the kind of throw enough mud and something will stick mentality, the desperate knowledge that your career is coming to an end and you either want to prolong information technology, or want a big pay day, that seems to have trapped Mr Liotta into this prove. The script just doesn't work, it isn't that it is poor, it'due south absolutely terrible. That said Mr Liotta does act well, only similar in whatever situation, if y'all practise your job and anybody around you doesn't, so it isn't going to be pretty!
I would depict out all the reasons this show sucks past examples, but that is hands covered past all the other reviews pointing out the bug, the simple problems for me are Jennifer Lopez is truly an awful actor, the script is poorly written and quite bluntly absurd, there is no grit to information technology, it has tried to residual proficient with bad to lead a viewer to a logical determination these rogue cops are good people, information technology doesn't work!

This show is one of the best shows on TV and the plot is wonderful
This is one of the best shows on Tv set. I don't understand the people on here who are giving it a 1 rating and maxim it is a bad show.

From the beginning episode up until now I was glued to my seat.
The plot thickens every week and you are held in suspense.
Jennifer Lopez plays Harlee to perfection then does Ray.
To me when people give a show a depression rating it is unremarkably practice to jealousy - for some reason they need to put information technology downwardly.
The writers and the directors are first-class at what they practise in regards to this show.

I love this show!!!

This series keeps me on the edge of my seat for the unabridged hour. I get so involved with this thriller that I tin't even sentinel it before I go to bed, so I record it and watch earlier!!! :D In that location is so much drama that your heart could skip a beat every ten minutes. Yet, it has a lot of soft and tender moments from people that you would not expect. There are also several dearest connections that likewise add to the drama. Ray Liotta is outrageously skillful! Merely then he is a great actor. I would sentinel this show but to see him. Jennifer Lopez, I experience is doing an fantabulous task, although her character can frustrate one..... The FBI agent that has Jennifer tied up is too doing a great job and in add-on he is easy on the heart!! The fashion the unabridged police grouping interacts gives you lot a feeling of wanting them to cheat and steal, although information technology's incorrect but they seem to actually feel and accept a solidarity that makes y'all desire them to become away with whatsoever they are doing equally long every bit they get the bad guys.

Ane Of The Best Series of 2016

I've decided to write this review after the Emmy Awards Of 2022 and my question was ( what they were thinking when they gave nomination and Awards!) I retrieve that the world is coming to an end when such great series such as (Shades of Blue) and (BlindSpot) don't get at least a single nomination in Famous ceremony such as the Emmy. This is by far i of the nigh stiff offense series of the year the plot,the suspense the story line all were corking. And as for Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta they were both excellent. Lopez actually brought to the screen another groovy role which is equal to her marvelous operation in Selena . And Liotta operation was actually superb he brought to the grapheme everything that no one else could exercise,and although he had done a lot of evil characters this was his best and non like anyone of them. Every bit for the rest of the bandage each 1 from the biggest function to the small part gave us their best for example : Warren Kole indeed gave u.s.a. a mean character every bit it should be presented, Dayo Okeniyi also gave us how the proficient cop should exist similar and what he feels when he is surrounded by people who are totally dissimilar from him. What is so special and interesting about this bear witness is what it delivers (which is a powerful message) that in this life at that place is no such a matter called a bad guy or a expert guy , there is on each i of us a mix of these two elements.

Crime drama!! Jlo!!
OK so I am a huge Jennifer lopez fan HUGE FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I saw the pilot and I was thinking hmmmmmmm I don't know nearly this show but now after watching the third episode this show is really picking up!!!!!!! I retrieve her interim is really great and the story line is tricky and the residue cast is great ray liotta drea de Matteo they really add to the show ! Jennifer lopez is so easy on the eyes so it is definitely easier to watch this show. Only being a huge fan of crime dramas this one is picking upward and keeping my interest and lets but all watch it unfold ! The storyline is great with Jennifer lopez existence a single mom who loves her daughter more annihilation. Her challenges equally a mom and a loyal cop to her team and the twists are interesting . So give it a shot first couple of episodes you May be surprised :)
